How to Be a Good Neighbor
If you’re getting ready to move into San Antonio apartments, chances are you want to turn your rental into your home. One of the best ways to do this and gain a real sense of community in the process is to make sure you understand the do’s and don’ts of being a good neighbor.
So, what do you need to do to be a great neighbor? Let’s take a look at some of the biggest do’s and don’ts you’ll want to observe while you’re at home.
The Do’s Of Getting Along
There are certain traits that distinguish a good neighbor from bad neighbors. To be labeled the former in your San Antonio apartments, try:
Being friendly and outgoing – Introduce yourself to neighbors and say good morning or evening when you pass by. Or just smile when you walk by to acknowledge their presence. This doesn’t mean you need to be on first-name basis with everyone in your complex, but it doesn’t hurt to be polite.
Being accommodating – The best neighbors are those who others feel comfortable enough to borrow a cup of sugar from. Try to reach out and help neighbors who need a little assistance. Offer to carry in groceries for an elderly neighbor. Attend community building events that might be held in the complex and take part in a community crime watch if there is one.
Being considerate – Remember, as you’re living in San Antonio apartments, you are surrounded by others who do so, as well. Be considerate of your neighbors and you will make a big impression. Keep the noise down, clean up after pets and keep the common areas of the complex or building neat after using them.
The Don’ts To Remember

There are a few things you’ll want to avoid if gaining that good neighbor label is important to you. These include:
Being too noisy – Almost everyone loves to play their music loud now and again. Keep yours at a dull roar to avoid upsetting those around you. And, don’t vacuum or move your furniture around early in the morning or late at night. Try to make nosier activities daytime chores.
Hogging up parking – The fastest way to really irritate neighbors in an apartment setting is to hog up parking. If you have guests, ask them to park in set areas to avoid problems. And, don’t double park or park crooked so others can’t find a space.
Being messy – Keep the outside of your apartment clean. If you leave an accumulation of stuff on your porch or at your door, neighbors will complain. Also, try to keep the inside of your apartment sanitary. Dirty apartments can attract pests and mold.
Being a good neighbor doesn’t take a lot of work. If you want to make living in San Antonio apartments a fun and rewarding experience, just exercise a little common courtesy. This will go a long way toward making your apartment house a real home.
